Recently, we injected a feeling of undeniable dynamism to a kitchen by applying a few of black paint. Now, it didn’t start out that way. The homeowner was doing a complete home remodel and quite naturally, wanted to update overall décor of their kitchen. Initially, they were willing to go for an off white tone for their kitchen cabinets. However, we showed them a sample of a black door and almost instantly, our clients bought the idea of having their cabinets painted black. In this post, we’re not going to talk about our process. Instead, we will discuss on how black kitchen cabinets always makes a strong statement.
The thought of having your kitchen cabinets painted black can be quite intimidating, but the results will be stunning. If done correctly, black kitchen cabinets will look good for all kitchen types.
Now, let’s talk about our project again. Did you notice the picture? As you can see, these cabinets look sophisticated topped with grey counter. This is a very important aspect when you choose the black color. You need to play with the contrasts by adding white or gray with the black cabinets. If you take a look at the picture of our project, you can see that the black cabinets are looking great against the white walls. Contrast is the key; so make your choices wisely.
Putting wallpapers in your kitchen will undoubtedly make a splash. But, the impact is exponentially higher when you pair it with black kitchen cabinets. As you can notice in the photos our project, the back splash looks much better with the black cabinets than it did with the brown ones. Black cabinets also act as a stunning backdrop for beautiful hardware and knobs.
The only thing that might concern you is the fact that black cabinets absorb light to a great extent. So, you might feel everything about your kitchen is too dark and dreary. However, by doing simple things like painting the walls white, using white or light-colored countertops, you can make your kitchen look bright and classy.
The type of paint also determines how well your kitchen will look. Contrary to popular belief, everything from dust particles to a drop of oil will show up clearly on a black cabinet. A high-gloss finish will even show smudges and fingerprints. In such a situation, you are better of using a flat black that will require less maintenance. To put it simply, black cabinets will definitely give your kitchen a classy, elegant and contemporary look. It will be something you can flaunt for years to come.
